Welcome to the homepage of the South Asasif Conservation Trust, a UK charity established to support the work of the South Asasif Conservation Project directed by Dr Elena Pischikova.

The South Asasif Conservation Trust organises a friend’s programme, lectures, UK volunteer recruitment, study days and study tours in support of the South Asasif mission.    The project is engaged in vital work to excavate, survey, record, reconstruct and conserve three large and important tombs of the 25th and 26th dynasty.  An international effort, with active Egyptian participation it is the role of the UK Trust specifically to provide a mechanism for UK scholars and supporters to engage with and support the work of the South Asasif Conservation Project.

About the Trust

The South Asasif Conservation Trust is a UK charitable trust with the registered charity number 1161221 established to support the work of the South Asasif Conservation Project directed by Dr Elena Pischikova.

The Objects of the Trust are to advance public education and to promote the conservation, protection and improvement of the Ancient Egyptian tombs at the South Asasif, Luxor West Bank, Egypt and the surrounding area for the benefit of the public in particular but not exclusively by:

i) undertaking and supporting field research (and publishing the useful results of such research)

ii) undertaking conservation activities on site

iii) promoting training in archaeological field skills;

iv) providing, and assisting in the provision of, lectures and publications in furtherance of the stated objects and

v) working in partnership with the Ministry of State for Antiquities in Egypt to maintain the site for the benefit of the public.

The South Asasif Conservation Trust organises a friend’s programme, lectures, UK volunteer recruitment, study days and study tours in support of the South Asasif mission. The trust is governed by a Board of Trustees made up of the following members:

Join the UK Friends

The South Asasif Conservation project is performing critical work in important tombs on the Theban west bank, but has no regular institutional or public funding.  By becoming a friend or patron you can make a real difference to the project.  A friend’s subscription of £20 will support the conservation of multiple painted limestone or fragile wood fragments while a patron’s subscription of £100 will hire an Egyptian workman for the season.   All donations by UK taxpayers through the South Asasif Conservation Trust will be eligible for Gift Aid enabling the charity to maximise the value of your gift, and higher rate taxpayers to reclaim the difference.
